The Green Bay Packers and star cornerback Jaire Alexander had an interesting 2023 season, to say the least. While Alexander performed relatively well when he was on the field, much of the year was overshadowed by injuries and a surprising one-game suspension.
Heading into 2024, the Packers’ all-pro cornerback is looking to bounce back in a big way. Now he has even more reason to do so.

Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report published an article titled Every NFL Team’s Most Overpaid Player Following Peak 2024 Free Agency. For the Packers, he listed non other than Alexander himself:
Green Bay Packers: CB Jaire Alexander
Fellow defenders Rashan Gary and Preston Smith are candidates as well, but both are a little more reliable. Alexander is one of the most talented corners in the league, but he’s missed the majority of two of the last three seasons while earning $21 million per year on a four-year deal.

Alexander Will Certainly Be Playing With A Chip On His Shoulder In 2024

Alexander is fully aware that he is one of the highest paid cornerbacks in the NFL. He’s also aware that the team will need him at his best, especially in the type of defense that new defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley likes to run.
The Green Bay Packers have signed Alexander through the 2026 season. In December 2023, a frustrating season was summed up when the Packers suspended Alexander for conduct detrimental to the team, resulting in the possibility of a rift between player and team. However, Alexander returned for the season’s final three games and had his best stretch of the season.
“Those things are difficult, those are tough, but at the end of the day it allowed us all to reset,” Gutekunst said. “Really proud of the way Jaire responded to that and I think that’s going to help us moving forward.”
General Manager Brian Gutekunst has also made it clear that there is no way Alexander is being traded. He is beloved by his teammates, fans, coaching staff, and even the front office. He will be a cornerstone piece for this defense for years to come.
