Green Bay Packers HC Matt LaFleur Attends Marquette Game With Rival Coach

The Green Bay Packers have a historic rivalry with the Chicago Bears. It is not often you see a rivalry in the NFL where the head coaches are openly friends. In the NFL we have seen head coaches argue with each other, in college, we’ve seen them nearly fistfight. But the Green Bay Packers head coach Matt Lafleur hopes to change how we see rivalries.

This is not something you see often, rivals hanging out in the offseason. Though it is hard to criticize. There are no rules in football (or life) that say grown men can not decide who they spend their off days with. It is more interesting thinking about what they may talk about as they sit courtside, besides the basketball game. As one could imagine though, it sparked a frenzy among NFC North fans.

    Media Reactions

With a rivalry as historic (and one-sided) as the Green Bay Packers versus the Chicago Bears, the fan reaction was as expected.

Brands even got their hat in the ring of jokes.

For context: In Jordan Love’s first season as the Green Bay Packers starter, he threw for more yards than any Chicago Bears quarterback in history.

Plotting to take down the Lions

    — Rooster (@RoosterTakes) March 7, 2024

Naturally, there was attention shifted toward the Detroit Lions. The Lions appeared in their first NFC Championship game since 1992, and only their second NFC Championship in their history. Before free agency and the NFL Draft, the Lions are betting favorites to repeat as NFC North Champions.

Though it was not all fun and jokes, some fans chose to criticize their appearance together

    Honestly, this is disgusting.

No place for this in sports.

There is not much truth to the claim above though, sports is all about bringing people together to enjoy a simple game. That is exactly what these coaches are displaying.
