Green Bay Packers Greatest Player #79: James Jones
James Jones may be one of the most currently beloved former Packers players because of how he always talks up the organization in his job as a NFL analyst. He even helped smooth things out (for a time) between Aaron Rodgers and the front office.
As a player, though, Jones is remembered as a dynamic touchdown threat and a Super Bowl Champion. A third round pick (78th overall) in 2007, Jones was a key member of the Super Bowl XLV winning team.
In 2012, Jones led the NFL in touchdown receptions with 14. That season, he also had a career-high 64 receptions to go with 784 yards (also a career-high at the time).
The next season, Jones had 59 receptions and broke his career-high in receiving yards. He totaled 817 that year to go with three touchdowns.
Following the 2013 season, Jones was not brought back in free agency, so he signed a one-year contract with the Oakland Raiders. He had a solid season in Oakland, leading the Packers to bring him back for one more year in 2015.
His final season with the Packers was also the final season of his career. Jones proved, though, that he could still compete at the highest level, again reaching a new career-high in receiving yards (890). His eight touchdowns that year were the second-highest of his career.
Jones has yet to be inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame.
