The Green Bay Packers have a LOT of free agents that may or may not be targeting this off-season. One that’s been forgotten but has been linked to the franchise the last few years is Odell Beckham Jr. Just because Baltimore got him last year doesn’t mean he won’t end up wearing a Packers jersey one day.
OBJ’s status is extremely up in the air, and he hasn’t brought up whether he’ll be going back to the Ravens or signing with another team.
The latest developments with him have been about his potential relationship with Kim Kardashian, as well as the fact that he was spotted today at the highly anticipated Suns-Lakers game. He wasn’t the only NFL player at the scene, however.
Odell Beckham Was Spotted Alongside Joe Burrow And Ja’marr Chase
OBJ was seen courtside at a recent Suns-Lakers game as well as other LSU legends Burrow and Chase. While they weren’t sitting next to each other, they were seen by fans talking to each other.
Even considering Tee Higgins being franchise-tagged, there’s no guarantee that the Chase/Higgins/Boyd trio, arguably the best WR trio in the league, will be returning next year. Burrows’s contract is too big. Given that Odell will almost be guaranteed to be taking a pay cut from his $18 million price tag from last year, it won’t be expensive to bring him into the fold if the Bengals move on from Higgins, Boyd, or both.
With that being said, them attending a game together doesn’t mean it’s a given he’ll go to Cincinnati.
Should The Green Bay Packers Sign Odell Beckham Jr?
Once again, Odell will be extremely cheap compared to other veteran WRs. He has experience most don’t, being a top 5 wideout for half a decade and even winning a Super Bowl with the Rams.
The Raven’s defense kind of stole the show last year, but the offense was still explosive and fun to watch. Odell helped guide young receivers like Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman during his tenure with Baltimore, and they both showed really good progress. Flowers looked like a veteran his rookie year (aside from that boneheaded playoff penalty) and Bateman was towards the top of the league in receiver separation.
Keep in mind the Packers had Donald Driver the last Super Bowl run. The core right now needs a veteran to lead the way, and Odell certainly wouldn’t hurt given the cap space the Packers have to work with.
