Green Bay Packers wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks had a much better rookie season than people would have anticipated as a fifth-round selection out of Virginia. There were flashes of potential for him in the immediate future.
The offense felt effective when Wicks was out on the field. There was a stat this season that Dontayvion Wicks led in and it is a very intriguing stat.

Wicks was the best receiver this season in getting open in single-man coverage. On the chart, it mentions how he had 78 snaps in single-man coverage and was open 43 times, which means he was open 55.13% of the time. This goes to show how great of a route runner Dontayvion Wicks is and it also goes to show how hard he is to guard in 1-on-1 coverage.
The analytics and stats don’t lie and Wicks will also need to be a big part of the Green Bay Packers offense in his second NFL season. Quarterback Jordan Love and Wicks had instant chemistry and he fits the offense perfectly.
Green Bay Packers Dontayvion Wicks Stats This Past Season
This past season with the Packers, Wicks caught 39 passes for 581 yards receiving and four touchdowns. He also averaged 14.9 yards per catch and also rushed for one yard on one carry. Wicks was also targeted 58 times this season by quarterback Jordan Love.
Wicks in two postseason games caught two passes for 25 yards receiving and a touchdown. He averaged 12.5 yards per reception and was also targeted four times by Love.
It will be interesting to see what kind of role Wicks will have in this offense next season. The Packers have four legitimate wide receivers that can play. Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, and Romeo Doubs are the other three.
Wicks will probably enter next season as the fourth wide receiver on the depth chart and he will be ready to be called upon if an injury occurs. Even if injuries don’t occur, the Packers and head coach Matt LaFleur need to implement a ton of four wide receiver sets this offseason. The offense because of Wicks and the other weapons can be lethal next season.
