The Green Bay Packers were recently listed as a top trade destination for Davante Adams by an NFL insider. However, another team that was among the top landing spots listed may have just gotten a slight edge. That team is the Cleveland Browns. There has been significant talk of Adams to the Browns, and it may have just gotten worse as a celebrity has begun his recruitment process for Adams.
LeBron James attempts to recruit Adams with a Twitter GIF
Not only was James a legend for the Cleveland Cavaliers, but he was a hometown kid. Born in Akron Ohio, James is openly a Browns (and Dallas Cowboys) fan. Unfortunately for the Packers, James saw the news that the Browns could be a landing spot for Adams on Twitter. To which replied to the tweet made by the “Down With The Browns Podcast”, with a GIF saying “God if you listinin’… Help!
This was an obvious prayer that the Browns would land the All-Pro receiver. This would be a great move for the Browns as it would greatly help their playoff chances. It would also give DeShaun Watson a great opportunity to have a spectacular comeback season. However, for the Packers, it would be very unfortunate.
What this would mean for the Green Bay Packers
While it wouldn’t change much keeping him in the AFC, it would take away a great opportunity for Jordan Love. Love has looked great through three games and it’s hard to imagine his play regressing much. With Christian Watson set to return against the Detroit Lions, he will have his best receiver back. However, he’s still not a proven WR1, and he’s not nearly on the same level as Adams.
Adding a superstar like Adams for Love to Target would not only make him much better, but the team as a whole could finally see great success again. Missing the playoffs last year, the Packers are looking to get back into the postseason with a new quarterback. While this is still very much possible without Adams, their chances would skyrocket with an offensive weapon of his caliber.
