The Green Bay Packers will are going to continue to add weapons around Jordan Love until enough sticks. The young core that currently surrounds Love feels like an extremely good start. Draft additions over the 2022 and 2023 off-seasons have already had a major impact on the teams’ successes this seasons.
However, the Packers could still be in line to add a super star to their roster in the form of a Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver.
Green Bay Packers Named As A Top Landing Spot For Cincinnati Bengals Wide Receiver Tee Higgins
Joe Tansey of Bleacher Report highlighted how this could happen:
Tee Higgins would be the perfect No. 1 wide receiver for the Packers to land.
Higgins has been the No. 2 to Ja’Marr Chase in Cincinnati for all of his NFL career, but it seems unlikely that the Bengals can afford to give him a massive contract.
The 24-year-old’s price might have increased a bit after his heroics on Saturday that allowed the Bengals to force overtime against the Minnesota Vikings.
Higgins’ play with Chase out injured on Saturday, and in the coming weeks, could solidify his position as the top pass-catcher on the free-agent market.
The Packers have a handful of nice young wide receivers, but none of them have developed into a superstar yet.
They need one of the league’s best wide outs to compete with the other three NFC North teams, all of whom have a superstar at the position in Amon-Ra St. Brown, Justin Jefferson and D.J. Moore.
A combination of Higgins, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed would be a great unit for Love to work with it would allow him to take the next step as an NFL quarterback.
Would The Packers Add A Star Wide Receiver In Free Agency?
The Packers have a very solid young core that surrounds Jordan Love. However, adding a veteran (at 24-years-old) could be huge for this team. That Packers have invested heavily at the wide receiver position over the last two drafts, it is likely they will focus on other positions this upcoming season.
Using free agency on a player like Higgins while addressing other areas of weakness through the draft may be the Packers’ best bet to shore up as many holes as possible.
Of course, the Packers’ 2024 salary cap will come into play (as it always does).
