The Green Bay Packers and Buffalo Bills have both started the season off 1-1. The Packers downed the Chicago Bears but collapsed in the fourth quarter against the Atlanta Falcons. The Bills lost in dramatic fashion against the New York Jets but had a dominant win against the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Bills will be an interesting team to watch at the trade deadline this year. I think that especially becomes true if the Bills do not find themselves as one of the top teams in the AFC midway through the season. There has been a lot of speculation regarding one of their superstars and his future with the team. The trade deadline could show a lot of true colors between the two sides.
The Green Bay Packers Are Predicted To Land WR Stefon Diggs From The Buffalo Bills At The NFL’s Trade Deadline
Vincent Frank of Sportsnaut highlighted how this deal could go down:
Continued drama relating to Diggs and his Bills team took on new meaning recently when a beat writer talked down to the Pro Bowler. It led to the receiver reacting in a candid way with his brother, Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs, indicating that he should request a trade.
Things certainly are at a boiling point despite Diggs himself saying he did not want out ahead of Week 1. We could easily witness a trade request should things spiral out of control. If so, interest in a receiver who is averaging 113 receptions for nearly 1,400 yards over the past three seasons would not be muted
- Potential Stefon Diggs trade destinations: Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, New York Giants, Chicago Bears
A total of 11 draft picks will be available for the Packers in 2024.If the team expects to contend for the NFC North near the trade deadline, then they may be able to add a veteran pass catcher like Diggs.
The Packers could offer the Bills something similar to what they would have offered the Indianapolis Colts for Jonathan Taylor. Although Diggs is older, he plays one of the NFL’s most valuable positions. While Taylor is young and talented, the Packers would have to pay him a lot of money in an NFL economy that is unfriendly to running backs.
It would be fairly shocking to see the Packers trade away draft capital for a 29-year-old wide receiver (will be 30 in November) during a season where they have a fairly significant “youth movement.” Although, another premier wide receiver for the right price is something any team who feels they are a contender may have to consider.
