The Green Bay Packers have suddenly found themselves squarely in playoff conversation as Week 12 approaches. The Packers are sitting at 5-6 after two straight wins and are just one spot out from the Wild Card spot in the NFC.
While the Packers have a chance to make the playoffs, that chance will be tested on Sunday when the Kansas City Chiefs (8-3) come to town. Ahead of their matchup, the Packers decided to make a change in their wide receivers room.
The Green Bay Packers Release WR Bo Melton Ahead Of Matchup Vs The Kansas City Chiefs
Two offensive players who were promoted to the active 53-man roster last week have been waived by the Green Bay Packers today. Bo Melton and James Robinson were released from the team on Monday and did not practice. Last Thursday, Robinson and Melton both played against the Detroit Lions.
Melton had never played in an NFL game prior to Thursday. He spent 2022 on the practice squads of the Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers. He has spent all of this season on the Packers’ practice squad.
A concussion/knee injury suffered by wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks and a chest injury suffered by Jayden Reed led to the Packers elevating Melton from the practice squad.
Melton, who is from Mays Landing, has had quite a football life. One of the most accomplished players in Cape-Atlantic League football history, he led Cedar Creek to the 2015 South Jersey Group II title.
For Rutgers in 2021, the 5-foot-11, 189-pounder caught 55 passes for 618 yards. His 40-yard dash time of 4.34 seconds at the NFL combine in Indianapolis in 2021 caught the attention of many. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him back on Green Bay’s practice squad.
