BREAKING: Green Bay Packers Expected To Move On From Offensive Starter (Report)

The Green Bay Packers did not have the best start to the 2023 NFL season. Following a stunning Week One performance over the Chicago Bears, Jordan Love and the offense embarked on a difficult journey of growth and chemistry building. During Week Two, they blew a fourth quarter lead to the Atlanta Falcons, needed an 18-point fourth quarter in Week Three to win by one point. However, those two games were then followed by a brutal four-game losing streak.

When the Packers were 2-5, many had written off the team, and some were ready to move on from Love. However, the team won seven of their last ten games, clinching the final NFC Playoff spot and defeating the Cowboys.

One of the Packers’ starters who played in 15 of those games this season is not expected to return to the team.

Green Bay Packers’ Starter Expected To Be On A New Team In 2024

It is likely that at least one half of the long-running tandem at running back for the Green Bay Packers will change. In an article published by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Tom Silverstein reports that the Packers are unlikely to re-sign running back A.J. Dillon, who has an expiring rookie contract.

Over the last four seasons, Dillon has played in 60 games and made 11 starts for the Packers. In addition to rushing 597 times for 2,428 yards and 16 touchdowns, he caught 86 passes for 763 yards and two touchdowns.

What Will The Packer Do At The Running Back Position?

It is very likely the Packers will use the draft to address the running back position this off-season.  However, free agency or even the trade market isn’t off the table.  Last year the Packers showed real interest in trading for Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor.

Aaron Jones future is in question as well, however, given his age (29) the Packers will likely move on from him in the next few years (if not this off-season).  The Packers will need to think long-term at the position sooner rather than later.
