The Green Bay Packers and Carolina Panthers are having almost exact opposite seasons heading into Week Four of the NFL. The Panthers (0-3) have not won a game with their number one overall pick in Bryce Young.
The Packers are 2-1 and just one fourth-quarter collapse away from a 3-0 record. Overall the Packers are impressed with what they have seen out of this Love-led offense. If both the Panthers and Packers trends continue, they were named in a trade that could help both sides.
Green Bay Packers Land Wide Receiver Adams Thielen From The Carolina Panthers In Bold Trade Proposal
According to NFL Analysis Network:
Christian Watson has missed the first three weeks of the year due to a hamstring injury, but even when he is healthy, he is not a proven No. 1 talent. Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed have looked impressive enough, but again, neither of them are top-level guys. At least not yet.
The good news for Green Bay is that it has between now and the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline to upgrade at wide out, and a former NFL executive has told the NFL Analysis Network that the Packers should ultimately inquire about Carolina Panthers receiver Adam Thielen.
“If the Packers keep winning, they should add another piece for Jordan Love,” said the former exec. “One player I think would be a perfect fit is Adam Thielen. He doesn’t fit the Panthers’ timeline and could become available for trade.”
Thielen has been busy through the first three weeks of 2023, logging 20 catches for 211 yards and a couple of touchdowns. However, as the executive points out, he is 33 years old, and for a franchise that has entered rebuilding mode, he doesn’t really fit.
Is Thielen a No. 1 receiver? However, he would provide the Packers’ young receiving corps with some much-needed depth and leadership. With his nine seasons spent with Minnesota Vikings, Thielen is well known in Green Bay. His back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2017 and 2018 earned him two Pro Bowl appearances in Minnesota.
There is no doubt that Thielen could add something valuable to Green Bay’s aerial attack, even though he isn’t at that level anymore. Through three games in 2023 Thielen has 20 receptions, 211 yards, and two touchdowns.
