The Milwaukee Brewers recently lost a pair of top prospects due to injury. Earlier this season Jeferson Quero, their third ranked prospect per MLB Pipeline, suffered a shoulder subluxation while diving back to first base and surgery will be needed as a result. More recently they lost their seventh ranked prospect after he was beaned in the head.
Milwaukee Brewers prospect Brock Wilken was beaned in the head during an at-bat.
On Thursday, April 11 Brock Wilken was involved in a scary incident. A 94 MPH fastball rode up and hit him in the head. His ear flap shattered as a result. Eventually, with towels on his face to control bleeding, he was able to walk off the field under his own power in which he did not return.
Matt Arnold indicated that Brock Wilken will likely undergo surgery due to multiple facial fractures.
Brewers GM Matt Arnold announced that Brock Wilken did not suffer a concussion, but he did sustain multiple fractures. Once the swelling goes down surgery will be likely. He was given a good prognosis to make a full physical recovery, but no time frame was provided.
Brewers 3B prospect Brock Wilken sustained multiple fractures when hit by a pitch in the face last night with Class AA Biloxi but there was no concussion. Surgery is likely when the swelling goes down. Longterm prognosis, though, is good according to Matt Arnold.

Mentally this may be a tough injury to overcome.
In the game of baseball there have been players who struggle to return after the trauma of being beaned in the head with a fastball. With these types of injuries the mental recovery can last much longer than the physical recovery. Hopefully Brock Wilken will be able to recover both mentally and physically at a speedy rate.
