The Milwaukee Brewers made the inevitable decision to trade Corbin Burnes this off-season. GM Matt Arnold sent him to the Baltimore Orioles and received pitcher DL Hall, infielder Joey Ortiz, and the 33rd overall pick in the 2024 MLB draft back in return. Fast forward two months and Burnes is now scheduled to pitch against his former team.
Corbin Burnes is Sunday’s probable pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers and Baltimore Orioles series finale.
With lots of attention on the Jackson Chourio versus Jackson Holliday match up one key part of this series that is initially sliding under the radar is the fact that Burnes is projected to pitch against his former team. Burnes had previously spent his entire career in Milwaukee after being drafted by them in 2016. Both sides are very familiar with one another and it should make for a can’t miss game.
Per Corbin Burnes his scheduled start against Milwaukee will be “business as usual”.
On Foul Territory TV Corbin Burnes was asked about his upcoming start against the Brewers. He did say he was treating this like any other game, was going to go through the scouting reports like normal, and not over think things. He indicated that his style of pitching is unlike any other players so he won’t be making drastic changes despite Milwaukee being familiar with his tendencies.

DL Hall and Joey Ortiz also are making their first starts against the Baltimore Orioles.
As mentioned earlier Hall and Ortiz were two players involved in the trade that sent Burnes to Baltimore. Hall is slated to start Saturday’s game and Ortiz was in the starting lineup for the series opener. Both of these players were drafted by the Orioles and made their MLB debuts with them as well.
