After the weather decided to put a damper on Thursday’s game against the Cincinnati Reds, the Milwaukee Brewers hit the road again to visit Baltimore and take on the Orioles. A little rain didn’t stop them as they slugged their way to an 11-1 victory on Friday.
Milwaukee Brewers & Baltimore Orioles Benches Clear After Argument
Things got a little heated in the sixth inning of the series opener between the two teams when Willy Adames stepped up to the plate and Orioles’ catcher James McCann had some choice words to say.
It’s unclear what was actually said, but it upset Adames and it resulted in both teams’ benches and bullpens clearing to see what the commotion was about. Adames was seen making some hand gesture at McCann while home-plate umpire Adam Hamari tied to break it up between the two and get the altercation taken care of.
Adames then stepped back to the plate and hit an infield single, and just an inning earlier, cranked a three-run bomb to bring Milwaukee to a 7-1 lead.
Brewers Bring the Electricity
The way the Brewers have started their season has been electric, and probably some of the most exciting baseball we’ve seen from them in a while.
Milwaukee got on the board first in the second when Rhys Hoskins hit a double out to right and Gary Sanchez got him home with a two-run blast. Joey Ortiz would have a three-hit night against his former team, kicking it off with a triple to bring Andruw Monasterio home and bring Milwaukee’s lead to 3-0.
The Brewers would own the hit column 15-6, scoring 11 total runs.
Freddy Peralta went from being the third starter in the rotation to the Brewers’ ace after Corbin Burnes was traded to Baltimore and Brandon Woodruff went down with an injury. Peralta struck out 11 and only allowed one earned run over six innings of work.
Per Dom Cotroneo, Peralta’s final line on the night was 6 innings of work, five hits, one run (earned), with 18 whiffs. Even more intriguing, in his last 17 starts, he holds a 9-3 record with a 2.89 ERA and 139 K’s.

The Brew Crew have won 11of the ace’s last 14 starts dating back to July of 2023.
Christian Yelich Exits Game Early
The Milwaukee Brewers were without Christian Yelich from the second inning on after he left the game with “lower back discomfort”, and while there hasn’t been much said about the severity, it’s important to keep an eye on, especially since Yelich has struggled with back problems in the past.
Christian Yelich explains what he felt in his back this evening. He hopes that he caught it before it tightened up too much, but sounds like he’ll be out at least a couple days. pic.twitter.com/1hv9tVYSQo

“It’s pretty frustrating,” Yelich told the media after the game. He’s hoping that he caught it early to where he will only have to miss a few games. Through his first 11 games, Yeli has been on a hot streak, hitting .333/.422/.744 with five homers.
