The Green Bay Packers have certainly moved on from several offensive players over recent years. The unofficial youth movement has ushered in a whole new era for Green Bay. Despite this, they still remain a favorite to make the playoffs in 2024. A very impressive spot to be in given the team trading away four-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers just one off-season ago.
Today it was reported that one former wide receiver landed with another NFC rival.
Former Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Signs With The New Orleans Saints
According to the New Orleans Saints’ official website:
New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced today that the club has agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown (pronounced eck-wah-nihm-ee-ous).
St. Brown, 6-5, 214, is a six-year NFL veteran who was originally selected in the sixth round (207th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame by the Green Bay Packers. In six seasons with the Packers (2018-21) and the Chicago Bears (2022-23), St. Brown played in 60 regular season games with 28 starts and has career totals of 63 receptions for 928 yards with two touchdowns.
St. Brown has also rushed 11 times for 80 yards, recorded seven special teams tackles and returned a kickoff for 17 yards. In three postseason contests with one start for the Packers, he recorded two receptions for 37 yards, carried once for one yard and had three special teams stops.
Equanimeous St. Brown Never Got Going With The Packers Or Bears
St. Brown has been in the league for five years. Three with the Packers and two with the Bears. During that span he’s never been able to amass more than 328 receiving yards in a season. His two lone touchdowns came in 2020 and 2022.
It will be intriguing to see if he can get going with a Derek Carr led offense in New Orleans. He could have multiple opportunities as he joins a wide receiving room consisting of Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, Cedrick Wilson Jr, Stanley Morgan, and A.T. Perry.
St. Brown is currently 27-years-old and is hoping to prove himself and earn a significant contract in the league prior to his 30th birthday.
