Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics have been dominating headlines of late. This is completely unsurprising considering the massive contract extension the two parties recently agreed on. What has delivered some real shock value, however, is the fact that Brown is now set to be the highest-paid player in the NBA after agreeing to a $304 million, five-year supermax extension with Boston.
Celtics, Jaylen Brown Set New NBA Record With $304 Million Max Extension

At this point, you’ve probably seen how Brown’s new deal fits into the context of the NBA — both past and present. For instance, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has earned a grand total of $390.5 million over the past 20 years. Brown is now set to pocket close to 80% of that amount in five years.
Compared to the greatest shooter of all time, Stephen Curry, Brown’s new deal dwarfs the biggest contract the Golden State Warriors star signed in his entire career, which was $215 million for four years back in 2021.
Perhaps the most compelling comparison, however, is how Jaylen Brown’s $70 million salary in the final year of his deal is just $24 million shy of Michael Jordan’s entire career earnings ($94 million). You can, of course, factor in inflation and all that, but there’s still no denying that Brown’s contract blows all of these past deals out of the water.
Giannis Antetokounmpo Set to Surpass Jaylen Brown’s Massive Deal

One man who could surpass Brown’s contract with the Celtics, however, is Giannis Antetokounmpo. The former back-to-back MVP is eligible to sign an extension with the Milwaukee Bucks this summer, but reportedly, the team can only offer him up to $170 million for three years. However, where it gets interesting is if Antetokounmpo waits it out another year. He will be in line for another supermax extension next summer, which given the current trend, should set a new NBA record for the biggest contract in history.
