Former Packers tight end Robert Tonyan thought Justin Jones’ comments were ‘funny’
After a five-year stint with the Green Bay Packers, tight end Robert Tonyan is sticking in the NFC North but will play for rival Chicago. Tonyan signed with the Bears as aa free agent this offseason, going back home to play for the team he grew up rooting for.
On Wednesday, Tonyan was asked about the comments his teammate Justin Jones had on Tuesday about Packers fans and questioning their lack of football knowledge. Tonyan didn’t fully defend Packers fans and did say the comments were “funny” but he did make it clear that you can just about say that about any fan base in the NFL.
“JJ is a little opinionated on that and I like that,” Tonyan said. “…but you could say anything about any fanbase.”

Tonyan has been on both sides of what he calls one of the ‘strongest’ rivalries in the NFL. And he’s done so as a fan and player as well.
He has a point. Green Bay fans are awesome but in the NFL everyone is passionate about their favorite teams and things do get a little rowdy. But that’s the beauty of it all, especially for Green Bay who has dominated the rivalry with the Bears of late.
