Former Number One Pick Gets Another Shot

As NFL Free Agency continues to unfold there is another Quarterback on the move. There is a new successor to Tom Brady in Tampa Bay, and it is former number one pick, Baker Mayfield.

    New Look Buccaneers

Mayfield has been given another opportunity at a starting job with signing a one year deal worth up to $8.5 million with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tom Brady has finally decided to retire leaving a spot opened under the huddle. While Tampa may not be competitive this season they still have a great duo of wide receivers in Chris Godwin and Mike Evans. And not to forget a talented defense that they tend to lean on.

Mayfield was given an opportunity last season after the Cleveland Browns moved on from him, by starting some games for the Carolina Panthers. It did not go well for him as a Panther, as he struggled to be consistent and it looked certain as his last opportunity at starting in the league.

    Opportunity Comes Knocking

Mayfield then was cut by Carolina and signed with the Los Angeles Rams. Mayfield was given another opportunity to start with a Rams team, decimated with injuries. Mayfield put together some great outings and showed he could still sling it when everything is set up for the guy.

Mayfield should have a good enough supporting cast around him to succeed in Tampa even if he just meant to be a bridge Quarterback before Tampa invests in a young Quarterback through the NFL Draft in the near future.
