There will be many debates between now and the start of the 2024 season about which Green Bay Packers wide receivers people should take in fantasy drafts. Some think that Christian Watson will be the top receiver, some think Romeo Doubs will be the top receiver, and some think Jayden Reed will be the top receiver for the 2024 fantasy football season.
A season ago, Reed led the team in receiving yards with 793 yards. He and Doubs each had eight receiving touchdowns. Many thought that Watson was going to be the top receiver, but he missed eight games due to a hamstring injury.
Christian Watson only had 422 receiving yards last season. He had 611 yards receiving as a rookie and many thought he would have popped in season two. There is a better chance this season that a Green Bay Packers receiver goes over 1,000 yards receiving.
Fanduel Fantasy Football Researcher Skyler Carlin Thinks That Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Dontayvion Wicks Will Be the Best Option This Season
At the moment, Dontayvion Wicks is with the second unit on the Green Bay Packers depth chart. There will be plans this season for him to be on the field during four-wide sets.
Fanduel’s Skyler Carlin thinks that Wicks might be the best Packers wide receiver of the bunch. He said about Dontayvion Wicks:
“Everyone is going to have differing opinions when it comes to Green Bay’s wide receivers for the 2024-25 season. There are cases to be made for each wideout, but one does happen to stand out among the rest — considering ADP and talent.
Of the four notable receivers on the Packers, Wicks is the one who interests me the most. Wicks has the latest ADP but has the skill set to earn a role in two-receiver sets, potentially giving Doubs fewer snaps on the outside moving forward.
It’s going to be tough for the Packers to keep Wicks off the field given the flashes he showed in the latter part of the regular season and in the playoffs. When ranking the four receivers in Green Bay’s offense, I’d have them Wicks, Reed, Watson, and then Doubs when factoring ADP and projected roles.”
Carlin also added about Green Bay Packers wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks:
“Another rookie who stood out for the Packers in 2023-24 was Dontayvion Wicks . Wicks — a fifth-round pick in last year’s draft — tallied 39 receptions for 581 yards and 4 touchdowns on 58 targets.
Production wasn’t an issue for Wicks despite having just a 49.9% route percentage last season as he earned the second-most YPRR (2.14) on the Packers, putting him only behind Reed. Wicks became more of an integral piece of the offense down the stretch, hauling in three of his four touchdowns in the last two games he was active in.
Ahead of his sophomore season, Wicks has an overall ADP of 151 and is the 63rd wideout taken in drafts. With plenty of mouths to feed in Green Bay’s passing attack, numberFire’s model projects Wicks as WR62 with 44.70 receptions for 594.23 receiving yards and 3.61 touchdowns on 70.56 targets.”
It will be hard for the Green Bay Packers to keep the second-year wide receiver on the sideline this year. There was one point last season where the fans wanted him on the field instead of Christian Watson. Wicks was one of the best wide receivers in the NFL at getting open.
Quarterback Jordan Love had tremendous chemistry with Wicks a season ago. Will see how often Dontayvion Wicks sees the field in his second NFL season.
