Green Bay Packers: Chicago Bears Pass Catcher Now In Doubt To Play Season Opener (Breaking)

Green Bay Packers: Despite having an essentially healthy roster going into Week 1, the Chicago Bears may now be without one of their starting pass catchers.  The Bears are hoping to have their offensive weapons as healthy as possible all season long to give Justin Fields as many opportunities to succeed as possible, however, before the season even starts they may be down their starting tight end.

Chicago Bears May Be Without Tight End Robert Tonyan In Season Opener Vs The Green Bay Packers (Breaking)

Robert Tonyan was added to the Bears’ injury report on Saturday with a back issue, and he is now questionable to play. All week, he practiced in full and had no injury designation until now.

The former Green Bay Packers free agent tight end signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears back in March. A former undrafted free agent, Tonyan had a breakout season in 2020, recording 11 touchdown passes before tearing his ACL in 2021.

Tonyan’s injury led the Bears to promote tight end Stephen Carlson from the practice squad, as well as linebacker DeMarquis Gates.

This will be an unexpectedly interesting name to watch as game-time approaches.  Many figured Tonyan to have a decent sized role in the Bears’ offense.
