There were many Green Bay Packers that played in the XFL this season. Most notably, former Packers quarterbacks Brett Hundley and fan favorite Kurt Benkert played this season but did not play in enough games to warrant recognition. As the XFL season winds down, three former Green Bay Packers made the All-XFL team.
Former Green Bay Packers On The All-XFL Team
All three of the players were undrafted free agents that the Packers signed out of college. Shockingly, there were two defensive players and one special teams player. Jack Heflin, Delontae Scott, and Darrius Shepherd were all honored this past week. Heflin, who many thought would make last year’s roster, had 25 tackles, three tackles for loss, and one sack for the Houston Roughnecks. Scott, who was a practice squad member had 7.5 sacks and 11 tackles for loss all top five in the league. Shepherd had over 900 kick return yards which was highlighted by an 80-yard return for a touchdown.

A Successful XFL Season
It is always nice to see former players do well. While the last iteration of the XFL did not do well, this season seems to be a success. Many of the players have been given opportunities on NFL teams. Whether they make the final roster will be another thing but I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them do. Again, Heflin had a great preseason and many thought he should have gotten an opportunity on the defensive line for the Packers last season. This is a storyline to watch in the offseason. Will any players who play in the XFL or USFL make an NFL roster in 2023?
It’s good to see former Packers finding success in their careers. While players don’t always work out, most fans like seeing players succeed. Will any XFL players find a way onto the Packers this season?
