The NBA trade deadline has seen a flurry of deals. The Bucks have been very active today in acquiring assets for the team. One former Wisconsin Badgers star was also traded. Former Badger Frank Kaminsky was traded by the Atlanta Hawks to the Houston Rockets.

Former Badgers Star Frank Kaminsky Traded To Rockets
The Hawks are on the outside looking in and needed to make some kind of move. They sent Justin Holiday and Kaminsky to Houston for Garrison Matthews and Bruno Fernando. This seems like a pretty nothing trade. Neither team is going anywhere and this is most likely a move that saves salary down the road. The Rockets are firmly in the tanking business and are fine taking on whatever player as long as they do not help them win too much.
Remembering Kaminsky’s Wisconsin Career
His NBA career has been disappointing but he was a monster in college. In his senior year, he averaged 18.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game. He was a part of the team that went to the 2014-15 Final Four and had a shot at the national championship but lost to Duke in the final game. That was a fun Badgers’ team and Kaminsky was a big reason why. He was picked 9th overall in the 2015 draft by the Charlotte Hornets.
We’ll see if Kaminsky can do anything in Houston. He will likely get plenty of playing time as the Rockets are not trying to win. If he can improve his game, maybe he becomes a key role player for a team down the road.
