Christian Watson has been on a tear in the last three games. After a slow start to the season mostly due to injury, Watson has exploded with six touchdowns in the last three games. Many of those touchdowns were long runs where Watson got to show off his speed. The NFL recognized Watson’s historic month. Christian Watson was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for November.
Christian Watson was just announced as NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month. He’s the first Packers player since Damarious Randall won the defensive award in Nov. 2015 and the third offensive player to win it for the team since 2005, joining Samkon Gado and Eddie Lacy.

Christian Watson Wins NFL Rookie of the Month
Was there really any question about who was going to win for November? Watson has outplayed all offensive rookies including many first-round receivers. In the month he had 14 receptions for 289 yards and 6 touchdowns. He now leads all rookies in touchdown receptions after just three weeks of production. Watson’s rise has shown that sometimes we need to give players some time to acclimate. Many were labeling Watson a bust after the first half of the season. Now, he looks like a potential next star in Green Bay.
First Packers Rookie Since 2015 To Win
Damarious Randall won the defensive award in 2015 but that was the last time a Packers rookie won Rookie of the Month. With the Packers’ success over the past decade, they have relied more on veteran players than rookies. While rookies have contributed they have not had to stats to win this type of award. On the offensive side, the only other Packers to win the award were Eddie Lacy in October of 2013 and Samkon Gado in November of 2005. That is some elite company that Watson is joining.
If Watson can keep these types of performances up, I wonder when he can enter the Offensive Rookie of the Year conversation. Missing so many games usually disqualify a player but if he keeps producing, he will be impossible to ignore. For Packers fans, it is simply great to see a player look like a potential star and staple of the franchise for years to come.
