NFL Trade Rumors: Chicago Bears Land Former Second Overall Pick

The Chicago Bears, a season ago, had one of the worst pass rushes in the NFL, and they are looking to get better in that department. Chicago is a team that is looking to get better this season, as they were one of the worst teams in the NFL a season ago.

There was a proposed mock trade by David Kenyon of Bleacher Report. He had the Chicago Bears acquiring Washington Commanders’ former second-overall pick Chase Young. Washington declined his fifth-year option before the season started.

This would be a huge get for Chicago because Young has the talent, but he has had a history of injuries. Young is only 24 years old. In 2022, he played in only three games and recorded five tackles. Chase Young still has a lot of potential ahead of him and won the Defensive Rookie of the Year award in 2020.

Chicago spent a lot of money in the offseason on the defensive side of the football. General manager Ryan Poles is trying to rebuild this football team, and it is currently a work in progress and won’t happen overnight.

Chicago Bears Getting Chase Young Would Be a Boost

Chicago’s leading sack leader a season ago was safety Jaquan Brisker, who was a rookie with four. They had one of the worst pass-rushing units in the league. The Bears haven’t had a quality pass rusher since Khalil Mack, whom they traded away to the Las Vegas Raiders several years ago.

It has been a few years since the Bears won the NFC North. Chase Young could revive his career in a different atmosphere. The Bears are known for winning with defense in the past, but this is an offensive league. However, you still need quality pass rushers to win in this league. Chase Young to the Chicago Bears is an interesting one, and the Washington Commanders have other quality pass rushers up front also.
