Chicago Bears safety Jaquan Brisker is one of the key players on their defense. He is hopeful to play in the season opener at home on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. Brisker is entering his second season in the NFL and will be a huge part of their defense once again this season.
Jaquan Brisker told the chicago.suntimes.com on Monday:
“I should be ready to go.”
That will be huge for Chicago’s defense if he is able to go this Sunday. On August 5, that was when he missed his first practice with an undisclosed injury. He has nearly missed the last month with this injury and was present on Monday with the team. Head coach Matt Eberflus seems pretty optimistic about him playing this Sunday. He told 670 the Score:
“He is right there. He is progressing. Wednesday is going to be a big day for him, but it looks on the positive side.”
Matt Eberflus hasn’t revealed much of his injury status throughout the preseason. The Chicago Bears are required to issue their first formal injury report on Wednesday. It will be interesting to see whether or not Jaquan Brisker will be on it.
Chicago Bears safety Jaquan Brisker Stats From a Season Ago
Brisker was a rookie a season ago from Penn State. He played in 15 of the 17 games last season for Chicago. Brisker led the team in sacks with four, and they will need much more from their pass rush this season. He also recorded 104 tackles, forced one fumble, recovered one fumble, and also had one interception.
Brisker also had two pass deflections and will get better in his second season. He could be one of the safeties that gets recognized early and often this season throughout the NFL. If Brisker is going to play in Week 1 against the Packers, Green Bay should be aware of where he is on the field. He also told the media on Monday.
“People hate Green Bay. I hate Green Bay.”
