Some people have this thing where they get older but just never wiser.
Joe Barry had no answer on how to stop the run, but the Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator brought the jokes to his Monday morning press conference. Barry made a lyrical reference to Taylor Swift in an answer about injured cornerback Eric Stokes.
The Green Bay Packers could get Eric Stokes back soon
On Friday, head coach Matt LaFleur said there was hope the Packers would have Stokes back to practice this week. Stokes hasn’t been able to practice since last season before he sustained a painful ankle injury that made it hard for him to walk this spring.
Barry was asked Monday about the possibility of the defense getting Stokes back. Stokes was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list and had to miss the season’s first four games.
Joe Barry makes a Taylor Swift reference
Barry made an attempt at humor, saying that it was a “champagne” problem for the Packers’ defense to get Stokes back because the cornerback position is stacked.
It's a "champagne" problem to get Stokes back on a defense that already likes its starting group, Joe Barry says.

Champagne Problems is a song on the record Evermore by Swift. The pop singer has been a popular name around the NFL since she has been connected to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Numerous pundits, coaches, and players have slipped in Swift’s lyrics over the previous few weeks.
Barry’s reference Monday was a weird joke since the Packers have had several critical injuries in the secondary in the early season.
The Packers’ defense would be better served with Stokes on the field.

No, the joke is Joe Barry game calling. The song lyrics, “hey, hey, bye, bye” should be played, because that should be LaFluer’s next play with this loser. Hey Barry. When you’re a screw up, don’t make jokes, don’t deflect blame. Own it.
