The Milwaukee Brewers have swung two major trades this offseason. Hunter Renfroe was the first player to be traded. He is now a Los Angles Angel. Kolten Wong came second in which he is now a Mariner. With two key players from last year departing, reports are saying that the Brewers have now removed three players off the trade block. Those players are Brandon Woodruff, Corbin Burnes, and Willy Adames.
Bob Nightengale was the reporter to announce this. As with most reporters, sometimes the opposite of what is announced occurs. Hopefully this is not the case this time for Bob.
The #Brewers, who have been shopping Kolten Wong all winter, are now telling teams that they are keeping aces Corbin Burnes and Brandon Woodruff. They are unavailable in trades.

The #Brewers also plan to keep shortstop Willy Adames. https://t.co/0b8cUpoZ65

Is taking Brandon Woodruff, Corbin Burnes, and Willy Adames off the trade block a smart move by the Brewers?
There are pro’s and cons to an alleged trade block. Benefits include teams reaching out and getting to know what a certain players value is in the trade market. It doesn’t guarantee that a player will be traded, but listening and being open to offers is not a bad thing.
Down sides include never ending trade rumors. Kolten Wong trade rumors began the day his option was picked up by the Brewers. All of Burnes, Woodruff, and Adames have also been involved in rumors this offseason. This can dampen a fan base or even a players morale.
For now it is likely that rumors surrounding the three above mentioned players will slowly fizzle out. The next wave of rumors may include contract extension talks. Only time will if the Brewers do actually retain these players or if an extension occurs.
