Markus Allen has left the portal
The Wisconsin Badgers had several players test out the transfer portal this season. Wide receiver Markus Allen was one of those players. It was to be expected after the Badgers fired head coach Paul Chryst midseason. The Badgers hired Luke Fickell, and the program will be heading in a new direction without the prior coaching staff, which includes Jim Leonhard.
Several recruits have de-committed in the past week. With Leonhard’s scheduled departure, former players hit the transfer portal as Fickell prepares to bring in guys that fit his scheme. Quarterback Graham Mertz made his decision to play for Kentucky Thursday. A few hours later, a former pass catcher decided where to play ball next season.
Allen had posted on his Twitter a couple of weeks ago that he intended to play for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Allen appears to have reversed that decision. According to Matt Zenitz of On3sports, Allen withdrew his name from the transfer portal. He’ll remain a Badgers wide receiver.

This is good news for a Wisconsin program facing heavy turnover and having a recruiting class in the single digits in early December. The move came a day after the Badgers announced they were hiring a top offensive mind, Phil Longo, to coach the team next season.
