The Wisconsin Badgers are potentially looking for A.J. Storr’s replacement and one of the names to watch in the transfer portal is Omaha Mavericks Frankie Fidler. Fidler was a junior this past season for the Mavericks and he will have one more left of eligibility.
Frankie Fidler is a 6’7″ 205 lbs forward. This past season in Omaha, he averaged 20.1 points per game, 6.3 rebounds per game, 2.6 assists per game, 0.4 blocks per game, and 1.2 steals per game, in 33 games played. Frankie Fidler’s points per game was ranked 31st in all of college basketball this season.
With the Badgers having a prolific offense this past season, he would fit right into head coach Greg Gard’s offensive scheme perfectly. Fidler is one of the best scorers on the transfer portal and there will be some other teams that will want to get him.
He visited the Creighton Blue Jays practice the other day and they are still alive in the NCAA Tournament. Creighton could be a team to watch for throughout this process and it could make sense for him to land with the Blue Jays.
Frankie Fidler Was Also a High School Teammate of Chucky Hepburn On the Wisconsin Badgers
Fidler is from Bellevue, Nebraska. William Kyle III of the South Dakota State Jackrabbits is also from that area. Kyle III, Frankie Fidler, and Chucky Hepburn were all high school basketball teammates. It would be something if Hepburn got into their ears and tried to recruit them to be with the Badgers for next season.
Some of the other schools that have reached out to Fidler according to Joe Tipton are the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Indiana Hoosiers, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Georgetown Hoyas, the Arizona State Sun Devils, and the Ole Miss Rebels.
It would be possible for Fidler to go back home to Nebraska and William Kyle III is also getting interesting from the Cornhuskers basketball program. That would be an absolute gut punch to Chucky Hepburn and the Wisconsin Badgers basketball program if Frankie Fidler and William Kyle III joined a BIG10 basketball foe. This is why the Badgers can not strike out in the portal and head coach Greg Gard would get a lot fo heat from this fanbase if that did happen.
