The Green Bay Packers are getting just a little bit healthier today. Matt LaFleur announced that RB Kylin Hill will reportedly be practicing for the first time this season. This could be big for the offense and how they use their current running backs.

Hill has been recovering from an ACL/knee injury he suffered last season. He suffered a gruesome hit to his knee during the Packers’ Week 8 matchup with Arizona. The former Mississippi State star has been on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list since the beginning of training camp. Unlike in the past, the Packers can activate Hill to the 53-man roster immediately. However, the team still has a 21-day window to decide whether to activate Hill or place him on season-ending injured reserve.
Kylin Hill was a seventh-round draft pick in 2021. He certainly impressed during the pre-season, eventually earning a spot on the Packers’ 53-man roster. During the first eight games of 2021, he primarily was used on kick/punt returns. He recorded just 10 carries for 24 yards, and one catch for five yards through those first eight games.
In four years at Mississippi State, Kylin Hill rushed 452 times for 2,535 yards and 16 touchdowns. He averaged 5.6 yards per rush. In college, he also accumulated 67 receptions, 631 yards, and 6 touchdowns. He averaged 9.4 yards per reception. His ability in the open field, however, is what could make him a serious weapon in the Packers’ offense.
