Bobby Portis and the Milwaukee Bucks are off to another strong start in 2022-23. 45 games into the season the Milwaukee Bucks sit at 29-16 and are currently the second seed in the Eastern Conference. They have reached that mark without their second-best player in Khris Middleton who remains out with an injury. Bobby Portis has been a bright spot for the Milwaukee Bucks this season and he knows it.
Bobby Portis Makes Strong Statement About Sixth Man Of The Year
During an interview with Sirius XM NBA Radio, Bobby Portis had some strong things to say about the 2022-23 season:
Right now in the league, man, I think I am the sixth man of the year right now. Not getting talked about it at all, not getting mentioned for it at all, but I just think the things that I do to help impact winning. I think that should be one of the things as well, guys that help impact winning. I think that I help impact winning on a nightly basis. I am always available for my team, I play every game, I don’t sit out games, I am available for the team. One of the biggest things as a pro that you can be is available. And I am available every game. I think I come out, produce numbers each and every game. With that being said, I think I am the sixth man of the year.
Bobby Portis hit the nail on the head when it comes to his performance. He has played in every single game so far this year (45), he is averaging 14.2 points per game, 10 rebounds per game, 1.8 assists per game, .5 steals per game, and .2 blocks per game. Having Bobby Portis on the floor every night for the Bucks has been a difference maker for them. According to Vegas Insider there are only five players who currently have better odds for sixth man of the year:
- Russell Westbrook (Lakers)
- Malcolm Brogdon (Celtics)
- Jordan Poole (Warriors)
- Normal Powell (Clippers)
- Bennedict Mathurin (Pacers)
- Bobby Portis (Bucks)
If Portis continues to play the way he has, his name should climb those ranks in no time.
