Bears Fans didn’t like the Packers extending Elgton Jenkins’ contract
Chicago Bears fans were hoping Elgton Jenkins would hit the free agency market this offseason. The Bears desperately need help on their offensive line to protect quarterback Justin Fields next season. Jenkins was linked as a potential option for the Bears to sign before next season. Bears fans were agitated when the news broke the Green Bay Packers signed Jenkins to an extension Friday.
Not only does this mean they have one less option in free agency to add to their offensive line, but they have another Pro Bowl offensive lineman their defense will have to try and penetrate twice a year for the foreseeable future. And the Bears’ defensive line is a mess currently. That’s another position the Bears will need to look at in the draft or free agency. Jenkins signing will make that just a tad bit more complicated.
Twitter reacts to the news
Fans in Chicago took to Twitter to express their feelings on Jenkins’ extension. Here are the best takes after the Packers extended Jenkins.

By the way, how do the Packers even have the money to extend Elgton Jenkins

The #Bears have over $120M to spend this offseason and there won't be anyone worth signing because apparently the salary cap is bullshit. https://t.co/kv7elSUImN

Things like this do make a mockery of the “Salary Cap”

We will see where else GB will need to cut costs though https://t.co/3fC7E52GC6
Weve worked another miracle. Weve hyped Jenkins up so much the Packers HAD to make him the second highest G ruining their cap even further😈

If this trend continues, Levis will bring the Bears a fruitful haul in a trade! pic.twitter.com/JbYPfxGmUu
Sucks but the Bears future doesn’t hinge on Elgton Jenkins 🤷🏾♂️

Future Bear Elgton Jenkins no more 😢.

Great deal for both parties. Jenkins narrowly surpasses all the recent vet deals (Scherff, Thuney, etc.) but Quenton Nelson’s $20M per year still out in front https://t.co/99HgZNaVF8

Know where the bears can get their own Jenkins?
The draft, like the Packers did. If they knew how to draft!!! Hahaha
Drafting, and coaching up players. Always has been a Chicago weakness
