Milwaukee Bucks, Brooklyn Nets, Mike Budenholzer

The Milwaukee Bucks had more than their fair share of head coaching controversy over the past 12 months. After Mike Budenholzer was fired following their first round loss to the Miami Heat in the 2023 NBA Playoffs, the Bucks underwent a massive coaching search that led to the hiring of Adrian Griffin over former Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse and Golden State Warriors assistant coach Kenny Atkinson. Of course, all Bucks fans know what happened next. Despite getting off to a 30-13 start, Milwaukee’s players did not seem to have good chemistry on the court, though it was not…

The Green Bay Packers not only took 11 new players in the 2024 NFL Draft, but they also added several intriguing undrafted free agents. Last season, Emanuel Wilson, Malik Heath, and Breton Cox were all undrafted free agents that ended up making the Packers’ 53-man roster. In fact, at least one undrafted free agent has made the Packers’ final roster in each of the past 19 seasons. This year’s crop of undrafted free agents includes several intriguing players: Peter Bowden- long snapper: Wisconsin James Ester- defensive lineman: Northern Illinois Ralen Gofort- linebacker: Washington Jarveon Howard- running back: Alcorn State Donovan…

The Green Bay Packers defense is going to look very different this year. Not only is new defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley switching to a 4-3 scheme from the 3-4 one deployed by Green Bay’s last three defensive coordinators (Dom Capers, Mike Pettine, and Joe Barry), but all the talk from the coaching staff indicates that it will also be more aggressive. On Thursday, defensive line coach Jason Rebrovich said, “It’s about TFLs and sacks. We’re gonna look to create havoc in the backfield.” Under the previous regime, the Packers’ front seven typically played reactionary football instead of aggressive, attacking football.…

Former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Devin Funchess made some history recently. After his NFL career ended in 2022, he has become the first former NFL player to sign a contract to play professional basketball. As previously reported, he is now playing for Caribbean Storm Islands of the Professional Colombia Basketball League. Funchess previously played for the Packers during the 2021 preseason, and was signed by the team before opting out of the 2020 NFL season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Funchess also plans on attending open tryouts for the G-League affiliates of the Charlotte Hornets and Los Angeles Clippers.…

The Green Bay Packers finished last season 9-8 and barely made it into the NFL Playoffs. Fortunately, they were able to secure the final wild card spot in the NFC and even upset the highly-favorited Dallas Cowboys in the first round. However, the multiple things that they struggled with as a whole all season came back to bite them in the Divisional Round in their loss to the San Francisco 49ers. While there is never just one reason a team loses a game, it is easy to point to one specific thing that can tip the scales in their favor:…

The Green Bay Packers made the long-expected decision to fire former defensive coordinator Joe Barry early on in the offseason. After an extensive search of candidates, Boston College head coach Jeff Hafley was hired to take his place. His hiring also meant there would some significant changes on the Packers defensive coaching staff. One of these changes was that Jerry Montgomery, the team’s longest tenured coach (he started as a defensive front assistant in 2015), was fired. He was soon hired by the New England Patriots as their defensive line coach. In his place, the Packers promoted Jason Rebrovich to…

The Milwaukee Bucks have had their fair share of head coaching drama this season. Mike Budenholzer, who led the Bucks to their first NBA Championship in 50 years, was fired following the Bucks’ first round exit against the Miami Heat last season. He was replaced by Adrian Griffin, who was fired after a 30-13 start and reports of a dysfunctional locker room. After Joe Prunty led the Bucks to a 2-1 record as the interim head coach, Doc Rivers was brought in to lead Milwaukee for the rest of the season and beyond. Unfortunately, the Bucks once again found themselves…

Milwaukee Brewers, Robert Gasser

The Milwaukee Brewers are tied with Craig Counsell’s Chicago Cubs for first place in the National League Central Division despite losing being just 4-6 in their last ten games. The offense, dominated by young players, has started to struggle. Additionally, the starting pitching, which was a question mark going into the season, remains a concern. Freddy Peralta has, overall, pitched very well this season (outside of his six-walk performance in his previous start. Colin Rea has been reliable as well. However, Joe Ross has been inconsistent, DL Hall struggled before his injury, and other starters have been struck by the…

Green Bay Packers, Brian Gutekunst, and the 2024 NFL Draft

The Green Bay Packers were in desperate need of wide receivers going into the 2023 NFL Draft. Allen Lazard and eventually Randall Cobb left via free agency to join Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets. Sammy Watkins had proven to be a remarkable disappointment during the 2022 season and was released before the year was even over. All the Packers were left with were 2022 NFL draft picks Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Samori Toure (and undrafted free agent Bo Melton) in their wide receiver room. Due to this, many thought the Packers might finally break from their tradition and select…

The formation of the 2024 Green Bay Packers running back room has been something of a roller coaster this offseason. With Aaron Jones under contract and having finished the season (and postseason) with five consecutive 100+ yard rushing performances, there was great optimism that the running back position was solidified if he could remain healthy. Additionally, AJ Dillon was re-signed to an extremely team-friendly deal that will keep him in Green Bay for at least one more season. Then, the Packers went out and signed the best running back on the free agent market, Josh Jacobs. Hours later, the team…
