The Milwaukee Brewers have made their second trade before this year’s deadline, this time for an additional left-handed bullpen arm from the Detroit Tigers. https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/1421163254177480720 The 28-year old comes to Milwaukee with a 1-3 record and ERA of 5.89. He has appeared in 38 games and has one save over three opportunities. Norris comes to the Brewers with a higher ERA, but so did Trevor Richards and Hunter Strickland. Both pitchers were great once with the Brewers, even though Richards went to the Toronto Blue Jays for Rowdy Tellez. Over his last seven games, Norris is 1-0 with a 1.35ERA…

After winning a contest on social media earlier this year, the Milwaukee Brewers will be getting their very own billboard. It will finally be displayed in Chicago Cubs land, one of their NL Central rivals. https://twitter.com/MLBONFOX/status/1419691843592273922 Billboard Origins Just before Opening Day, the Brewers won a five round voting contest of all Major League Baseball teams on Twitter who had the best fanbase. The winner would get to have a billboard put up in the city of their best-known rival. Milwaukee actually made the top four last year, but did not win. https://twitter.com/MLBONFOX/status/1375873754501369856 In the quarterfinal round, the Brewers beat…

The Milwaukee Brewers usually aren’t interested in rentals at the trade deadline. It has happened before, with players like Mike Moustakas and Drew Pomeranz. But David Stearns usually has his eye on players with control. But, if the Brewers still need a first base option and the trade deadline is almost here, a solid target and rental for the team would be C.J. Cron of the Colorado Rockies. Cron’s name has been out there for months now. He signed a one-year, $1MM minor league contract this offseason with the Rockies. He has exceeded expectations so far, and been one of…

The Milwaukee Brewers currently hold a four game lead in the NL Central going into the All-Star break. They are 14 games above .500 and went 20-13 after having to play 33 games in 34 days. Their play to this point has been pretty good at this point of the season. Milwaukee is in a solid spot, but no one can celebrate yet. The Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals are deciding whether to be buyer or sellers. The Pittsburgh Pirates were done when April was over. The Cincinnati Reds are only four games and playing really well right now.…

It’s been an interesting year for the Milwaukee Brewers and Jace Peterson. Peterson was originally signed with the Brewers in December of 2019. His contract was selected on August 22, 2020 after Brock Holt was DFA’d. He played in 26 of the 60 games, and ended with a .200/.393/.749 slash line. He had two home runs and only five RBIs. After the season, he was nontendered by the Brewers. In January of 2021, he signed a minor league contract back with the team. At first, the signing seemed to be for additional minor league depth in case of injury. The…

The Milwaukee Brewers are currently battling for first place in the NL Central. Adding a power hitter at the deadline could put them over the edge to clinch it. Their starting pitching has been fantastic. Their bullpen is coming together and has a variety of weapons. Christian Yelich and Keston Hiura are starting to hit and produce. But, losing two of their big power bats hasn’t helped their offense or team batting average. Daniel Vogelbach and Travis Shaw will be out for at least six weeks. It will most likely be longer than that. Jackie Bradley Jr. is not currently…

Keston Hiura

After Keston Hiura was sent down to Triple-A in Nashville for the second time this season, it was unclear when he would return. One of the Brewers’ best hitters seemed lost at the plate. Would he even return in 2021? That question was answered rather quickly. The Brewers infield got bit by the the injury bug once again. Kolten Wong was finally back after his second IL stint, but the Brewers had just lost Travis Shaw. Then, Daniel Vogelbach injured his hamstring and will be out for at least six weeks. So the Brewers recalled Hiura once again on June…

The MLB power rankings are a strange beast. It is mostly a big name popularity contest. And even though the Milwaukee Brewers are one of the hottest teams in baseball, they continue to be barely be near the Top 10. There are plenty of teams that are playing well, and it doesn’t help that the Chicago Cubs are also red hot. Yes, the Brewers are playing a lot of sub .500 baseball teams. But if Milwaukee was losing to those teams, they would be punished for that and drop in the rankings. In the big scheme of things, do Power…

As trade rumors and the deadline approaches for the 2021 Major League Baseball season, it’s easy to forget that most teams have plenty of players waiting in the minor leagues waiting for their shot.  The Milwaukee Brewers are in the same boat. The team isn’t perfect, but are on a current hot streak and don’t play a playoff-caliber team until closer to July. They should be competing for the NL Central, which means they will need a few additional pieces. Yes, trading for players like Jesus Aguilar and Eduardo Escobar would be great. Signing a free agent is also possible.…
