This article is not to bash the possibly the greatest Green Bay Packer of all time, but Aaron Rodgers has had his name brought up in the media multiple times in the last 3-4 years. Packer fans and other football fans might not have fully agreed with what he has said in the past, but fans still appreciate what he did for Green Bay.
Greatest Packer of all time?
A couple of weeks back, Aaron Rodgers stated on the Pat McAfee show that he should be in the conversation for being the most excellent Green Bay Packer of all time. Some might say that is true, and others may disagree. To name a few, the Packers have dozens of greats, including Paul Hornung, Bart Starr, Reggie White, and Brett Favre. Rodgers would be put into the top five for most Packers fans, but is he #1? Some could argue that the Packers wouldn’t be where they are today without Brett Favre and Reggie White, but Aaron continued it in his way. So in whatever way fans choose to consider who the greatest Packer of all time is, Rodgers is in the conversation.
Controversy
Starting in 2020, Aaron Rodgers started making weekly appearances on the Pat McAfee Show every Tuesday to discuss the last week’s game. Fans thought it was cool to get a player’s look and opinion on the game in a much more laid-back way. Unfortunately, as the weeks went by, it was more of Rodgers ranting and clearing his name than talking about the game of football. There were plenty of funny moments and incredible insight from the star QB, but fans did not always agree with what he would say on the show. Now, this week with Brian Gutekunst talking at the NFL meetings and saying what Rodgers was saying was not true puts Rodgers in a bad spotlight. Everything we heard about Aaron being upset with the front office a few years back looks true. Fans this week lost a lot of respect for the four-time MVP as a person but still appreciate him as a Hall of Fame player.
The point of this article was not to put a sour look on Aaron Rodgers but mainly to point out the facts of what has been happening in the sports media. Aaron Rodgers will go down in history as arguably the best Packer of all time, but fans truly did not enjoy some of his comments as a person.
