Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets finally got it done. After months of uncertainty surrounding the four-time MVP’s contract — one that would have allowed him to earn more than $100 million next season — the two parties have now agreed to restructure the deal. Rodgers is now set to take a massive $35 million pay cut to make this all work, which some fans believe is a clear slap on the face for the Green Bay Packers.
Aaron Rodgers Takes $35 Million Pay Cut With Jets
Before the Packers traded their ex-cornerstone superstar to the Jets this summer, they had to restructure his current contract in order for the deal to work out. This left New York with a significant dilemma, which to his credit, Aaron Rodgers ended by taking a record-breaking $35 million pay cut. The one-time Super Bowl champion has obviously earned his fair share of money through the years, but there’s also no denying that $35 million is still a significant amount. This just goes to show how sincere the 39-year-old is about doing whatever he can to help the Jets achieve their goals this season — and quite possibly, beyond.
