The Green Bay Packers‘ first season with Jordan Love at quarterback ended four points shy of an NFC Championship appearance as the youngest team to ever win in the playoffs. After the departure of 4x MVP QB Aaron Rodgers, the Green Bay Packers remained in the spotlight with five primetime appearances in the 2023 regular season (2-3 record). With the 2024-25 season soon to come, the Packers will face a familiar amount of Primetime slots with another five.
With the NFL doing its best to entertain, there are a few games that stick out as exciting events to look forward to for the upcoming season.
#3 Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions Face Off Week 14

The Detroit Lions have struggled since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger, and are still yet to hoist a Lombardi trophy. However, in the last couple of years, they have brought about a newfound culture and success, making just their second NFC Championship appearance ever in 2023 as well as winning the NFC North for the first time since the division’s re-naming in 2001.
The Detroit Lions sport a rare blend of grit, tenacity, and talent that makes them a challenge to any NFL team, and over the last 10 years, they hold a 10-10 record vs the Green Bay Packers as well as 4-1 over the last five games. In the 2023-24 postseason, the Packers and Lions nearly met in the NFC Championship and are slated both to be electrifying contenders in the 2024-25 season. In week 14, every win and loss will directly impact seeding as they race to the playoffs.
The game will take place on a Thursday night game on Dec. 5th in Detroit on Amazon Prime. However, it is worth mentioning the Packers will not be coming off of a short week going into this game as they have another TNF game the week prior.
#2 Packers See The Electric Miami Dolphins In Thanksgiving Showdown
The Green Bay Packers’ Thursday Night Football game, before they play the Lions, falls on Thanksgiving. This puts the Packers in another familiar position after playing the Dolphins on Christmas in 2022 along with experiencing a Thanksgiving game in 2023. The Packers will see the Dolphins again in the 2024-25 season and it is primed to be an entertaining matchup.
Both offenses displayed high-scoring capabilities in 2023 and are again primed to top leaderboards in offensive production. With Americans watching with their families on the holiday, a high-scoring affair could be in order. The Packers will be at home in late November, likely bringing a cold advantage for the Packers against the warm-weather Dolphins.
#1 Packers Open Season Against The Philadelphia Eagles In Brazil
Announced earlier in the offseason, the Green Bay Packers will open the season on a rare Friday time slot in Brazil against the Philadelphia Eagles. With the Eagles losing in the Superbowl two years ago and falling apart towards the end of the season last year, the Eagles will have a big chip on their shoulder entering the season. What may be more anticipated is how the Packers will transition into the season with the new defense coming out of the impressive ‘rebuild’ year.
The Green Bay Packers will enter the neutral site game as the ‘Away’ team, meaning they will have nine home games, seven away, and one neutral site. The Corinthians arena in Brazil will host the matchup of the Packers and Eagles, likely holding over 49,000 fans. This will allow the Green Bay Packers to establish themselves as South America’s Team.
