Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers could play a new position when his arm strength inevitably dies down with age. The New York Jets reportedly used Rodgers as a linebacker in practice this week.
Rodgers is back at practice and rehabbing from his Achilles injury. Rodgers hopes to start again as a quarterback for the Jets this season and maybe as early as Christmas Eve against the Washington Commanders. But that will depend on whether or not the Jets are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.
Aaron Rodgers is making great leaps in his injury progress
Rodgers is making great leaps (literally) in his progress on the field this week. According to Rich Cimini with ESPN, Rodgers recorded an interception this week as a member of the Jets scout defense:
“On Friday, Rodgers took some reps as a fill-in on the scout-team defense and made a leaping interception as a linebacker — a play that left many teammates buzzing afterward.
“He looks normal to me,” coach Robert Saleh said, smiling. “It’s unbelievable.”
Rodgers making an interception on the scout defense might sound more impressive if not for the fact that the party throwing the interception is a Jets backup quarterback.
And they suck.
However, the incredible part of the story is that Rodgers can leap in the air to make a play and land on his feet. If Rodgers can do that, we might be able to see him play under center next week if the Jets can upset the Miami Dolphins this weekend.
