The Green Bay Packers squeaked by the New England Patriots last Sunday in overtime. A win is a win, but this team did not play well by any stretch of the means. However, the week is over and the focus is now on the New York Giants. Packers and Giants fans are in for a treat as this game will be played in London mid Sunday morning. This is a great opportunity for both teams, and a once in a lifetime experience as well. Let’s take a look at three things that we can expect on Sunday morning:
Saquon Barkley Accounts For Every Giants Touchdown
This should not come as any sort of surprise to anyone. Saquon Barkley is off to a fantastic start this season. He currently has the most rushing yards in the NFL this season and shows no signs of slowing down. The Green Bay Packers are dead last right now in run defense. For a Joe Barry- led defense, this is inexcusable. The New York Giants’ gameplan should be as simple as giving Barkley the football again and again until the Packers can defend the run. Do I think they will be able to? Nothing this season shows me that they will be able to. Saquon Barkley is a great player of his own and he will get his yards and touches throughout the game. The pressure is on this defense to make sure that Barkley does not single-handily win this game by himself.
Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson Both Score A Touchdown
If there is one takeaway from last week’s game, it is that Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson need to play a role in the Packers’ offense going forward. Doubs showed that he can be a downfield target for Aaron Rodgers, as well a short yardage option. On the other hand, Christian Watson continues to prove his worth via the jet sweep. Both of these scenarios are crucial in keeping the offense more diverse and less predictable. Having both players on the field simutaneously is a competitive advantage and defense coordinators need to be aware of this. If Adam Stenavich can utilize Doubs and Watson together on Sunday, the Giants are going to be in a whirl wind of trouble.
Mason Crosby Kicks Another Game-Winning Field Goal
Until Joe Barry can start figuring out the struggles in the run game, I do not see Green Bay winning many games by multiple scores. Saquon Barkley is going to leave his mark on the defense, which might be enough to give the New York Giants the win. The biggest factor is going to be how Daniel Jones performs and if the defense can apply pressure to force turnovers. Additionally, Aaron Rodgers is going to have to bounce back significantly after last week’ performance. The offense is starting to get into a rhythm, which has been a positive thus far. The pressure is on the defense to slow down Barkley. In the end, the right leg of Mason Crosby will be needed for a second straight week to send Green Bay home with a win overseas.
