Pitchers and catchers report is days away. In two weeks, the Brewers’ first full squad workout will take place. For the first time in years, that workout will take place without Ryan Braun.
Two weeks before the Brewers' first full-squad workout, here's what Ryan Braun is thinking: “I’m continuing to work out and stay in shape, but I’m not currently interested in playing."https://t.co/o9oHuwJncq

Ryan Braun’s Place in Brewers’ History
If this really is the end of Braun’s baseball career, he will end as the Brewers’ all-time leader in home runs (and also in strikeouts, but we don’t need to talk about that. He is one of two Brewers to win Rookie of the Year and one of four to win MVP. He has a career .296 batting average, fifth in team history.
A six-time All-Star, Braun would end his career as one of the most beloved Brewers of all time. While his whether or not his number will be retired is up for debate, it is almost certain no Brewer will ever wear #8 ever again. Jim Gantner’s #17 has received the same treatment from the team.
What Does This Mean for the Brewers in 2021?
From the sound of it, it appears that the Brewers planned for the 2021 season under the assumption that Braun would not be back. They plan on moving Keston Hiura to first after signing Kolten Wong, a Gold Glove second baseman.
The outfield starters appear to be set. Christian Yelich, Lorenzo Cain, and Avisail Garcia are expected to retain their positions in the Brewers’ lineup. Braun’s leadership in the clubhouse is what will be missed the most. Hopefully the other veterans on the club can step up and fill that hole. He will be missed. Hopefully the Brewers can work something out in the future to give him the sendoff he deserves in front of fans.
