The #8 Marquette Golden Eagles enter Saturdayโ€™s matchup on the road against the Xavier Musketeers after having lost their last two games. This game is scheduled to tip off at 4 p.m. CT and it will be televised on FOX. Marquette has lost their last two meetings against the #10 Creighton Blue Jays and the #2 UCONN Huskies.

There is no shame in losing to those two teams, but they need to bounce back against Xavier. They also did not have point guard Tyler Kolek in that matchup due to an oblique injury. He will be out on Saturday against the Musketeers, but hopeful he is ready to go for the Big East Tournament next weekend.

Marquette guard Kam Jones (1) scores during the first half of their game against UConn Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Entering this matchup, the Golden Eagles have a 22-8 overall record this season and a 13-6 record in Big East Conference play. They are tied for second in the conference standings with Creighton. The Golden Eagles lost to the Huskies on Wednesday by a final score of 74-67.

In that matchup, the Golden Eagles had three different players score in double figures against UCONN for Shaka Smartโ€™s squad. Once again, Kam Jones led the way with 18 points and he also grabbed three rebounds and recorded two assists. Oso Ighodaro scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

David Joplin also added 10 points for the Marquette Golden Eagles against the UCONN Huskies. Marquette needs to play well against Xavier before the Big East Conference Tournament begins next week.

The Musketeers are coached by Sean Miller. They have a 15-15 overall record and a 9-10 record in the conference. They are the eighth seed currently for the Big East Conference Tournament. Xavier last played on Wednesday against the Butler Bulldogs and they lost that matchup on the road by a final score of 72-66.

Three players scored in double figures for the Xavier Musketeers against the Butler Bulldogs. Desmond Claude led the way with 17 points and grabbed three rebounds. Quincy Olivari and Dayvion McKnight each scored 13 points for Xavier against Butler.

In the last matchup on February 25, the Marquette Golden Eagles won that game easily over the Xavier Musketeers by a final score of 88-64. Even without Tyler Kolek in this matchup, Marquette has enough depth to easily win this matchup on the road against Xavier.
