The #4 Marquette Golden Eagles are one of the best teams in college basketball this season and a lot of their success has to do with forward Oso Ighodaro. Marquette will be graduating some players after the season and some will be leaving for the NBA.
Ighodaro is currently a senior with the Golden Eagles and he is 6’11” and weighs 235 lbs. Oso Ighodaro in 26 games this season with the basketball program is averaging 14.3 PPG, 7.4 RPG, 2.9 APG, 1.1 BPG, and 1.3 SPG. He is shooting 62.1% from the field this season.
Ighodaro has been in the program in all four seasons with the Marquette Golden Eagles with head coach Shaka Smart. If Marquette is going to want to get to the Final Four for the first time in over 20 years this season, Oso Ighodaro will have to continue being a factor in the paint on both ends of the floor.
He is also 21 years old and will have the talent to be potentially selected in the 2024 NBA Draft. There is still time for him for his draft stock to improve.
Bleacher Report Currently Has Marquette Golden Eagles Oso Ighodaro As a Second-Round Pick in the 2024 NBA Draft
In an NBA Mock Draft that was done by Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report last week, Ighodaro is projected to get drafted 34th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft by the Portland Trail Blazers (via Hornets). Ighodaro would be going to a rebuilding Portland Trail Blazers team.
Wasserman wrote about him by saying:
“Oso Igodaro’s game can be summed up well by his double-double with five stocks and three assists against Georgetown this week. Interested NBA teams will be picturing an active big around the basket and a useful ball-handling passer who can cover ground defensively. He’s somewhat of an outlier, unlikely to offer much creation, shooting or rim protection, when typically teams expect one of those attributes in a big. Instead, it’s Ighodaro’s ability to give a frontcourt a different look that’s appealing, especially with his ability to operate as a playmaking power forward or center.”
In 26 games played this season for Marquette, he has recorded a double-double three times and it feels like he has recorded more of them. Ighodaro has recorded five or more assists also three times this season. Ighodaro will be more of a two-foot finisher and a shot blocker at the next level.
