The Packers designated a fan-favorite offensive lineman to return
The Green Bay Packers were weighing several options at offensive tackle this week during workouts. The team has not signed one of those players. However, the team should be seeing more help from the position shortly. The Packers must keep an eye on the situation at tackle as David Bakhtiari, and Elgton Jenkins stay on the injury report. The team made a move that should see the Packers with a fan favorite on the offensive line depth chart soon.
According to the NFL’s transaction wire, the Packers designated offensive lineman Caleb Jones to return from the non-football injury list. Jones should be practicing with the team this week. Jones has been on the Packers NFI list since Oct. 1st.
Jones was a fan favorite during the Packers’ preseason. The undrafted rookie free agent impressed players and fans alike with his play during those three pivotal exhibition games. Jones was signed to the Packers’ practice squad. It didn’t take long for the Indiana Hoosiers product to earn a promotion. Jones was signed to the 53-man roster by mid-September.
It’ll be interesting to see how Jones fits in with the offense in Week 12. The Packers could use more help on the offensive line. If the Packers lose more games and are nixed from playoff contention, the team could try and develop Jones and other young offensive linemen for the future.
