Following a wild and captivating four walk walk-off win Friday night over the Seattle Mariners, the Milwaukee Brewers looked to improve to 6-1 after the second game of their three-game series with the Mariners. However, the Milwaukee Brewers would go on to suffer their second loss of this long MLB regular season in a 5-3 effort. This afternoon the final game, of this three-game set will take place, and either the Brewers or the Mariners will take the upper hand in the season series.
Milwaukee Brewers Take Weak 5-3 Loss to the Seattle Mariners

In the very first at-bat of the game, Brewers starting pitcher DL Hall recorded his first strikeout as a member of the Brewers when he fanned Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford. Both teams could not get the edge until the Mariners got the first run on the board during the top of the third inning when Seattle’s center fielder Julio Rodríguez ripped an RBI single into center field. In the very next at-bat Mariners second baseman Jorge Polanco grounded out into a fielder’s choice but helped score a run in the process giving Seattle a 2-0 lead. Two batters later, Mariners designated hitter Mitch Garver hit an RBI single that bounced off of Oliver Dunn’s glove and rolled into the outfield.
After seven innings of play, Seattle still held on to a 3-0 lead. Their lead would only grow as in the top of the eighth inning Polanco crushed a solo shot that landed in right-center field. Milwaukee finally got some runs across in the bottom half of the eighth. Milwaukee Brewers right fielder Jackson Chourio ripped a two-run home run into left field, cutting the Mariners lead in half. Six batters later, Brewers pinch-hitting first baseman Rhys Hoskins hit a sacrifice fly. After eight innings of action, the Mariners still held a 4-3 lead.

Seattle got some much-needed run support at the top of the ninth inning when third baseman Luis Urías hit a solo home run to left field to give the Mariners a 5-3 lead. Milwaukee could not rally a ninth-inning comeback win as they did on Friday night. Seattle reliever Andrés Muñoz gave up four consecutive walks on Friday night to give the Brewers the win. Muñoz certainly made up for his mistakes from the first game of this series, as he struck out Chourio for the game’s final out.
Mariners starting pitcher Bryce Young pitched seven innings and allowed just three hits, and a walk while striking out seven batters in the win. Jorge Polanco’s two RBI day was huge for the Mariners at the end of the day, and they’ll hope he continues to play well against tough inter-league opponents. DL Hall pitched five and one-third innings allowing three runs on eight hits, and two walks while striking out five batters in the loss. Milwaukee Brewers’s designated hitter for the day William Contreras was solid going two for three at the plate, but if it wasn’t for Chourio’s two-run home run, the Brewers wouldn’t have had a shot in this one in the first place.
After the Brewers final game of their three-game set with the Seattle Mariners, they’ll be flying out to Cincinnati for a four-game series against the divisional rival Reds. While the Mariners will head to Toronto for a three-game series with the Blue Jays.
