Wisconsin volleyball has accomplished quite a bit this season so far. They’ve ranked atop the AVCA polls for eight straight weeks, along with garnering two Defensive Player of the Week honors in the Big Ten. One of their seniors received a higher honor than Defensive Player of the Week, as Senior Sarah Franklin captured the Big Ten Player of the Week honors after her efforts on the court.

Sarah Franklin’s Performance for Wisconsin Volleyball
Sarah Franklin has been a staple on the offensive side of things for the Badgers all season long. After hitting the 1,000 kill mark earlier this season, she’s continued her offensive onslaught, and led the charge this week for Wisconsin volleyball.
The team took matches against Rutgers and Maryland via the sweep, and Franklin was in the middle of it all. She tallied 34 kills between the two matches, and averaged 5.67 kills per set. She led the team in kills in both matches, while hitting .321. She added five aces while leading the ace attack against Rutgers with four.
It wasn’t all offense for the outside hitter, though. Franklin was fabulous on defense as well, recording 18 digs between the two matches while tallying 40 points across the two matches.
The other Big Ten weekly awards were given to other schools. Nebraska’s Lexi Rodriguez picks up the Defensive Player of the Week honors. Indiana picked up a pair of awards this week, with Camryn Haworth getting the nod for Setter of the Week and Ramsey Gary as the Freshman of the Week.
