A mere hours after the Wisconsin Badgers defeated Nebraska, Wisconsin officially posted their head coaching position. After weeks and weeks of silence, Wisconsin may have finally tipped its hand about what they are thinking for the head coach position. Here is what the Wisconsin head coach vacancy being posted means.
Wisconsin Head Coach Vacancy Posted
This will be open for seven days. Not seven business days. Seven days. Two sources say #Badgers will hire Leonhard. https://t.co/qeGchEdv8o

The position is not open for long. It is only open for applicants for seven days. A couple of sources have said that this points to the Badgers hiring Jim Leohard as their next head coach. With the win at Nebraska, the Badgers became bowl eligible which is quite a feat for Leohard. He took over a team midseason that looked to have little to no fight in them. While the Badgers have not looked perfect, they have shown fight and improvement. Multiple players have come out in support of Leohard as the permanent head coach. It seems like the job is his if he wants it.
Good News For The Badgers
Overall, this is good news for the Badgers. They get a known coach who the players love in the locker room. In college football, a long head coach search can cripple a program. Already, we have seen some players decommit from Wisconsin due to uncertainty. Wisconsin does not want to lose anymore recruits due to the uncertainty of coaching. For Wisconsin to go into the last weeks of the season with their head coaching position filled is a good thing.
Leohard has won himself the job. This could’ve easily been a lost season but now the Badgers will play in a bowl game. Hopefully he will be able to keep the momentum going and bring Wisconsin back to the top of the Big Ten next year.
