The Wisconsin football staff has worked hard to develop their receiving core, and one particular transfer could be a key to the growth.
Tyrell Henry, a transfer receiver from the Michigan State Spartans, joined Wisconsin during this off-season. In a short time since joining, Henry has impressed with both his speed and power, which could earn the receiver more potential playing time.
Henry could emerge for Wisconsin football much like former Cincinnati transfer Will Pauling did a season ago.
Wisconsin Football Aiming to Display Much Improved Receiving Core in ‘24 Season
This past season for the Wisconsin football team, the Badgers embraced their first true season of the ‘Air Raid’ offense under offensive coordinator Phil Longo.
Longo is a long time practitioner of the style of offense, and was brought to Madison specifically to introduce it to the Wisconsin football program. In the first year of utilizing it, things did not go according to plan for Wisconsin between major injuries and a general lack of success.
Now, entering year two of the offense, Wisconsin is hoping for much bigger success as they have added players designed for this style of play. In particular, Wisconsin football has worked on their receivers to ensure they have the best players to throw to next season.
Wisconsin Badgers Football Transfer Receiver Tyrell Henry Could Become Key Offensive Addition
Perhaps the biggest addition Wisconsin football made in the transfer portal on offense comes in the form of 6-foot tall, 175-pound receiver Tyrell Henry.
Henry is a Michigan native and committed to the Michigan State Spartans as a three-star recruit out of High School. During his time with the Spartans, the blazing fast receiver has mainly been used in the slot and as a return man for the team.
After entering the transfer portal, Henry was in search of a new home where he could truly shine as a receiver and not just a special teams player.
Henry now has the chance to do just that as he joins the Wisconsin football team when they were in search of a dynamic, versatile receiver to join rising star Will Pauling. Henry is a very similar player to Pauling and utilizes many of the same traits that the fellow Badger receiver does.
A Look Ahead: Can Wisconsin Adapt to the Passing Game in 2024?
The Wisconsin Badgers are heading into their third-straight season with a different starting quarterback. Graham Mertz struggled before transferring away to Florida, Tanner Mordecai spent the entire season injured and played through it, and now Tyler Van Dyke joins the team.
Wisconsin has all the tools to quickly adapt to their new offense this coming season, but the question remains on whether or not they will be able to.
