Wisconsin football recruiting has been on quite the hot streak this month. The Badgers have added six commitments so far in June. Insiders expect Luke Fickell’s staff to land another exciting commitment tomorrow, but UW was not so fortunate today.
4-Star WR Picks Michigan Over Wisconsin Football
Wide receiver prospect I’Marion Stewart announced his commitment to play at the University of Michigan. The announcement, made at Overtime’s seven-on-seven football league finals, was widely expected by insiders. The Wolverines have been the frontrunners to land the Chicagoland pass catcher for most of Stewart’s recruitment. Before his commitment, the six-foot wide receiver named a final four of Michigan, Wisconsin, Tennessee, and Oregon.
A four-star prospect, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Stewart took an official visit with Wisconsin football the weekend of June 2nd.
Where Did Wisconsin Football Recruiting Go Wrong?
The Wisconsin football recruiting staff under Fickell may have done all they could to secure Stewart’s commitment but still came up short. Wisconsin first offered the 2024 recruit under former head coach Paul Chryst’s staff. Stewart did not reciprocate interest with UW at the time due to its offensive playstyle.
Stewart’s recruitment by Wisconsin, led by wide receivers coach Mike Brown, took off when Fickell arrived in Madison. The new coaching staff prioritized the consensus top-15 talent from Illinois. In April, Brown received a commitment from Kyan Berry-Johnson, a former high school teammate of Stewart’s. Michigan had, however, already claimed its place as the frontrunner for Stewart after his numerous visits to Ann Arbor.
The 2024 Wisconsin football recruiting class is currently ranked 14th nationally and fifth in the Big Ten, according to 247Sports Composite. Berry-Johnson is currently the only committed wide receiver in the Badgers’ class.

Wisconsin has shown they can get top flight receivers in the portal with Longo in charge of the offense. This is a minor setback.
