The Wisconsin football staff has continued their recruiting success after landing a three-star commitment from New Jersey.
Raphael Dunn, a 2024 three-star athlete, committed to the Badgers following his official visit last week. Dunn chose the Badgers over Virginia, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky. The versatile player is able to cover multiple positions on defense and serve various roles. Dunn plays and sizes up much like former Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton, who roams the field to make incredible athletic plays.
Wisconsin Badgers Staff Continues Hot Streak, Lands Versatile Raphael Dunn
After a successful first weekend in June for the Badgers, the recruiting staff has followed up their success thus far. Already, coach Luke Fickell has placed the ‘Bat Signal’ onto Twitter before the Wisconsin football team landed Raphael Dunn. The New Jersey native has primarily been in contact with both positional coach Colin Hitschler and defensive coordinator Mike Tressel. Coming in at 6-foot-4-inches, 200-pounds, Dunn is primarily a defensive back for his high school, but perhaps will transition into either a dollar player or box safety.
The Wisconsin Badgers football team has preached that they want to become bigger, faster, and stronger this upcoming season. One of the best ways to accomplish this is to bring in players that fit the athletic mold the staff is looking for. Fellow 2024 commitments Kahmir Prescott and Vernon Woodward come in at over six feet tall. Each player is also described as a ‘physical’ and ‘aggressive’ player, which is a trait that coach Fickell has been known for.
For the talented recruit Raphael Dunn, the Wisconsin football team received a strong, intelligent player. Dunn has the size to tackle and move nearly any player on the offense. However, the athlete also has incredible vision and football intelligence as he consistently jumps routes to make interceptions, or recovers loose footballs. Dunn is incredibly difficult to play against due to his ability to cover every inch of the gridiron. Most offenses are not able to effectively get past the safety.
How Does Raphael Dunn Impact The Wisconsin Badgers Football Team?
For the Wisconsin football team, Dunn is the ultimate scheme fit for the squad. Between his versatility and size, Dunn can provide the Badgers with the help that they need in the secondary moving forward. Dunn is comfortable with coming down into the box or lining up in the slot. His ability to do so could set him apart once he reaches campus following the completion of his Senior year.
Dunn still has another year to continue to develop his game. Currently, the recruit ranks as the 12th player in the state of New Jersey and also the 679th recruit nationally. Dunn is also the 69th safety in the class with plenty of room left to grow. The athlete joins a recruiting class alongside fellow safety Kahmir Prescott, who both aim to dominate for the Wisconsin football team in the future.
