Wisconsin Football: Powerful Four-Star 2025 Edge Showing Interest In Madison

The Wisconsin football staff has been working hard recruiting wise despite some key losses after positive conversations with a 2025 target.

Jayden Woods, a four-star 2025 edge rusher, has been in contact with the Wisconsin football staff for some time now. Both of the major contacts for Woods have left the university, however his interest still remains despite the shift. Now, the Badgers are hoping to bring the Kansas native onto campus to meet the staff and experience Madison.

Following the staff shake-up in Madison that saw multiple veteran coaches leave the program, Wisconsin has re-entered the recruiting world in full force. The Badgers have targeted one of the premier edge rushers in the 2025 class, who has already shown some interest in Wisconsin.

Jayden Woods, a four-star Kansas native, currently has two official visits booked for the coming months. The Wisconsin football staff brought Woods to campus earlier this month for the first time, and quickly booked an official visit for May. Special Teams Coordinator Matt Mitchell has led the recruitment of Woods, and made quite the impression during their first in-person meeting.

Woods also has an official visit booked with the Purdue Boilermakers football team in June. Purdue has also been a major recruiter of the edge rusher thus far.

A Look Ahead: How Could Woods Fit Into the Wisconsin Badgers Football Team?

Woods, a 6-foot-3-inch, 235-pound edge rusher, has been a dominant force on the defensive side of the ball. Woods can play with a hand down or drop back into coverage if needed, and the strength is there to take on tackles himself. The talented athlete excels in pursuit situations and primarily uses shed/swim moves to get to the ball carrier.

One of the most fascinating parts about the game of Woods is his athletic ability, as he is a three sport athlete. Woods also runs track and wrestles, doing both at a very high level as well. Wisconsin football has loved the versatility of Woods and plans on having him apply pressure on the defensive side of the ball.

Between his versatility and athletic ability, Woods can disrupt offenses if coaches do not plan around him. This past season as a Junior, Woods recorded 71 tackles, seven sacks, ten tackles for loss, and 11 hurries.

Can Wisconsin Football Land Jayden Woods Over Kansas, Purdue?

At this point in time, Wisconsin football is leading the recruitment of Woods, however it is still very early for the edge rusher. Woods holds offers from Alabama, Arkansas, and Florida, among other major programs, but has yet to visit any of their campuses. The best bet for Wisconsin to land Woods in the future is to continue to recruit as hard as they can early on.

If Wisconsin can maintain their relationship with Woods heading into his official visit, it could certainly sway the recruit. Wisconsin football will need to work fast before more programs become heavily involved.
